Botox DOs & Don’ts Following Treatment:
-
DO stay upright for 2 hours after treatment. This is to avoid pressure in the area and to avoid increased blood flow which might cause the Botox to be dispersed and therefore not last as long.
-
DO move the injected areas for the first hour after treatment by making pronounced facial expressions, e.g. frowning, smiling and raising your eyebrows. This helps the Botox reach the cells it needs to in order to work.
-
DO avoid getting too hot 48 hours after treatment, for example strenuous exercise, drinking alcohol, hot weather, sun beds, sauna, steam room. This is because heat causes increased blood flow which might cause the Botox to be dispersed and therefore not last as long.
-
DO be patient, it takes 4 - 7 days before it starts working.
-
DON’T apply makeup or have a spray tan for 6 hours after treatment. This is to avoid the risk of infection.
-
DON’T apply pressure when cleansing your face. Use gentle strokes away from the eyes. This is to avoid preventing the Botox to reach the cells it needs to in order to work.
-
DON’T wear tight caps/garments in the area that has been injected. This is to avoid preventing the Botox to reach the cells it needs to in order to work.
-
DON’T have facial massages, facial electric stimulation, dermaroller, semi-permanent make up, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks.
